Service Description
Ready to start your sewing journey? This hands-on workshop is designed for complete beginners with little to no sewing experience. Whether you've never touched a sewing machine or it's been years since you've sewn, we'll teach you the essential skills you need to sew with confidence. In this relaxed and supportive class, you'll learn the fundamentals of sewing while completing a simple beginner-friendly project to take home. Our instructor will guide you every step of the way, ensuring you leave feeling comfortable using a sewing machine and excited for your next project. During this workshop, you'll learn: ๐งต The parts of a sewing machine and what they do ๐ชก How to thread your sewing machine ๐งถ How to wind and insert a bobbin ๐ How to install and change a sewing machine needle ๐ Basic seam allowances โ๏ธ How to sew straight lines, corners, and simple curves ๐ How and when to backstitch ๐งท Sewing machine safety and basic maintenance ๐ Complete a simple beginner project to take home No prior sewing experience is required. We'll explain everything step by step in a fun, encouraging environment where questions are always welcome. We will be making a drawstring backpack in this workshop. This workshop is the perfect first step before taking our skill-building classes such as our Heart Zipper Pouch Workshop and many of our other sewing workshops. โจ No sewing experience is required. All project materials are included. Class Length: up to 3 Hours Maximum of 4 students for plenty of one-on-one instruction. All materials and equipment are provided, and our instructor will guide you every step of the way. Machine Options: Bring your own sewing machine or useone of ours for free! What you'll need to bring: Your sewing machine in good working order and serviced within a year (if bringing your own) A pair of indoor shoes that fully cover your feet (no outdoor shoes, sandals, or bare/sock feet) Leave with a finished project, the confidence to use your sewing machine, and the skills needed to continue your sewing journey!

Cancellation Policy
- All class registrations are subject to the following policy: โข Cancellations made 6 days or more before the workshop will receive a 50% refund. โข Cancellations made less than 5 days before the scheduled class are non-refundable. โข Missed classes, late arrivals, or early departures are not eligible for refunds or credits unless otherwise stated by The Sewing Machine Doctors. Other Policies: - Parking for sewing classes is available ONLY on 12th Street. Parking is NOT permitted in the driveway, across the street in the apartment parking area, or in the neighboring business center parking lot. Participants are responsible for following these parking requirements and applicable parking regulations. - For the safety and cleanliness of the classroom, all participants must bring and wear clean indoor shoes/hard sole slippers. Outdoor footwear and bear/socked feet are not permitted inside. Participants who arrive without appropriate indoor shoes may be refused entry without a refund. - If you are bringing your own sewing machine, it must be in good working order, recently serviced or otherwise confirmed to be operating properly, and tested before arriving to class. The instructor is not responsible for troubleshooting or repairing personal sewing machines during class time. If your machine is not suitable for the class or becomes inoperable, you will be required to rent a classroom sewing machine (if available) or you may be unable to participate. Regular class fees still apply.
